This report gives the details of the Cisco Skill Competition, NetRiders Cambodia 2008, conducted on Saturday 22nd Nov 2008 at Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This event was successfully organized by Mr. SOPHANY HONG, United Nation Volunteers and Cisco Networking Academy Representative in Cambodia, in cooperation with and strong supports from NetAcad APAC Team, and all Cisco local academies and Cisco instructors in Cambodia.
The main objective of the event is to allow NetAcad students to present their knowledge in the field of computer networks, gained through the Cisco Networking Academy program (NetAcad). It focuses on the improvement of communication among students as well as students and NetAcad program instructors, thus creating a stimulating and motivating environment among the participating academies.
For the NetRiders Cambodia 2008, there were three different activities. The 1st activity is Cisco Skill Competition which includes three categories, 1st category: ITE PC Hardware & Software, 2nd category: CCNA Discovery 1&2, and 3rd category: OPEN Category. The competition aims to provide opportunity to NetAcad students in Cambodia to compete with each others to get wards from Cisco Program and three winners were selected to attend the APAC NetRiders 2008. The 2nd was Job Fair which there were 6 local companies attended to provide job opportunities in ICT to NetAcad students and contestants. And the 3rd was a workshop on “Worldwide Recognized IT Program - Success in Your IT Careers” which aimed to provide detail information and knowledge regarding to Cisco Networking Academy Program. During the event, there totally were 111 contestants from five Cisco local academies in Cambodia attended the competition and 70 participants from different companies attended the workshop.
All in all, the Cisco NetRiders Cambodia 2008 played a very critical role to develop and promote the Cisco Networking Academy Program in Cambodia. And I strongly hope that this event will be held in 2009 again in order to promote Cisco Networking Academy Program in Cambodia.
